Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople confirmed on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
Joshua had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
βThe boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,β the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the passing of his two close friends.β
